Di Resta positive after first test day

Paul di Resta wound up second after the opening day of testing at Jerez, completing a total of 106 laps. The Scot, who begins his second campaign with Force India this season, was the first to get behind the wheel of the VMJ05 during a media day at Silverstone last Friday and drove the car in anger for the first time today.

Despite an early delay while fog played havoc with deliveries of new parts, Red Bull's Mark Webber declared himself happy after Day 1 in Jerez. The Australian completed 54 laps of the Spanish venue, quickly getting to grips with his new machine.

Button: Promising signs with new McLaren

Williams was struck by a series of gremlins as F1 winter testing began in Jerez on Tuesday. Following the launch of the new FW34 this morning, Pastor Maldonado was driving the car although several technical problems resulted in only 25 laps.

Ricciardo: A very enjoyable car to drive

Daniel Ricciardo was upbeat about the new Toro Rosso after the first day of Formula 1 winter testing in Jerez on Tuesday. The Australian, who makes the move from HRT, lost one hour due to technical problems but still ended his day in the top five.

Kobayashi ‘happy’ with new Sauber

Kamui Kobayashi was pleased to report positive first impressions of the Sauber C31 as F1 pre-season testing began on Tuesday. Although he stopped on-track 20 minutes before the chequered flag, possibly conducting a fuel-out run, the Japanese notched up more laps than anybody by circulating the Jerez circuit 106 times.

Räikkönen fastest as F1 testing begins

Kimi Räikkönen has begun his F1 comeback by topping the timesheets on the first day of pre-season testing in Spain. The Lotus driver beat the quickest Jerez time of last year as he led the way from Paul di Resta’s Force India and Nico Rosberg in a 2011 Mercedes. The Red Bull of Mark Webber ended its day fourth.

Webber completes RB8 track debut

Mark Webber has introduced Red Bull’s new RB8 to a race track for the first time, shaking down the car in Jerez as pre-season testing began on Tuesday. At the top of the timesheets, Kimi Räikkönen led the way with three of the eight hours remaining.
