McLaren to push for an Italian victory

After a P1 and a DNF at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team travels to another of the historic Formula One venues: the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. Once again, the Woking-based outfit will be pushing for victory next weekend.

The Italian Grand Prix, the final European race of the 2010 World Championship, takes place at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza on Sunday 12 September. One of the most atmospheric venues on the calendar, the original Monza circuit was built in 1922 and today the 5.793km track is the fastest of the year with four long straights enabling the cars reaching top speeds of up to 340kph.

FIA investigates Massa's Belgian GP grid error

The FIA has launched an investigation why Scuderia Ferrari driver Felipa Massa was able to start last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix slightly ahead of his grid slot. The error was not picked up at the time, but came to light as amateur video footage appeared on the internet.

Rosberg doubting future podiums

Without denying himself future opportunities for podiums, Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg certainly believes that he will struggle to get his W01 past the Renault's and the other top three teams. "It's definitely becoming more and more difficult because (based on) pure pace we're going to struggle to get a podium I think," Rosberd told 'ITV'.

Spa a positive weekend for Button despite DNF

Pirelli back on track at Paul Ricard

F1's tyre supplier for the upcoming year is back to work as it carries out another test session in a Toyota TF109 at France's Paul Ricard Circuit. Nick Heidfeld had the opportunity to run the test circuits high speed configuration, and was greeted by nice 28 degree weather.

Ferrari hard at work in Maranello and Vairano

Work in preparation for the Italian Grand Prix is continuing unabated. Yesterday, Felipe Massa was in Maranello for a series of meetings with his engineers, as well as a session on the simulator. Meanwhile, today at Vairano, Giancarlo Fisichella got one of the rare opportunities this season to drive the F10, even if it was just down a straight.

Austin reveals proposal for US track layout

The track layout of the proposed United States GP at Austin has finally emerged. Local newspaper American Statesman have revealed the track, to be designed by Herman Tilke, will feature 40m of elevation changes and 4 real overtaking possibilities.

2 more tests added to the 2011 pre-season calendar

F1 is set to increase the amount of testing during the 2011 pre-season testing schedule. Instead of the originally planned four sessions now there will be six, with the last possibly being held in Bahrain. The locations and the possibility of in-season testing have yet to finalized, as the smaller teams' financial situations have to be taken into consideration.

Straight line testing for Ferrari in preparation for Monza

In order to prepare for the Italian GP at the legendary Monza circuit Ferrari will be holding a straight line test in Vairano sometime this week. Their home GP requires a low downforce and thus new aerodynamic parts for the F10 have been developed and need real world testing.

Francorchamps confirms plans to organise Belgian GP once every other year

Etienne Davignon, President of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, has confirmed that there are plans to let the Belgian Grand Prix take place only once every other year, alternating with the Nurburgring in Germany. This proposition was already made by Bernie Ecclestone last year.

Alguersuari handed a 20 second penalty

Jaime Alguersuari has been given a 20 second penalty following the stewards review of lap 42 from the Belgian Grand Prix. The Spaniard is accused of cutting the final chicane and gaining a position from Vitantonio Liuzzi. This promotes Liuzzi into 10th, and into the points, while demoting Alguersuari back to 13th.

Renault probably without F-duct at Monza

The Renault F1 Team might remove its F-duct for the Italian Grand Prix weekend in two weeks time despite being very satisfied with its performance at Spa-Francorchamps. Using the device for the first time, Robert Kubica managed to finish third at Belgium.

McLaren take the win, but it could've been more

The Belgian circuit of Spa-Francorchamps suited the McLaren MP4/25 marvelously. Lewis Hamilton went off into the lead at the start to never give it away again. Jenson Button moved up to second at the start but was knocked out of the race when running in second place.

Webber happy, Vettel sorry

There was yet another podium position for Red Bull at Spa-Francorchamps, but the emotions were still mixed after the race. While Mark Webber was happy to finish second after a dismal start, Sebastian Vettel simply had a terribly race, destroying Button's in the same effort.
